Robert Sanchez is the latest signing of what has been a busy summer for Chelsea ahead of the 2023-24 Premier League season, Sportivationng.com reports.
The Blues were looking to strengthen their goalkeeping position after losing Edouard Mendy to Saudi side Al-Ahli earlier this summer.
The Spaniard has joined Chelsea from Brighton on a seven-year deal for a £25m fee which includes add-ons.
The 25-year-old would provide competition for fellow Spain international goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga.
Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart, Chelsea’s co-sporting directors, said: “We’re very pleased to welcome Robert to Chelsea and he adds further quality to our goalkeeping unit.
“Robert has repeatedly proved himself in the Premier League and been capped by his country. We are excited to watch him work with Mauricio [Pochettino] and his coaching team during the season ahead.”
The 25 year old keeper will reunite with former goalkeeping coach Ben Roberts who is also at Chelsea.
The goalkeeper already knows some Chelsea players which includes Levi Colwill and Marc Cucurella from his time at Brighton, while he has worked with Kepa at the Spain national team.
He becomes Chelsea’s seventh signing this summer following the arrivals of Christopher Nkunku, Diego Moreira, Nicolas Jackson, Angelo, Lesley Ugochukwu and Axel Disasi
