Middlesbrough will be open to offers for star striker, Chuba Akpom in the summer, Sportivationng.com reports.
Akpom enjoyed a prolific campaign in the Championship with 28 goals in 36 games to win the division top scorer award.
He also led them to a play-off place before the lost 1-0 to Coventry City on aggregate.
The 27-year-old has one year left on his contract at the Riverside. He has been linked with the likes of Crystal Palace, Everton, Wolves, Leicester City and Brentford.
According to TEAMtalk, Middlesbrough are prepared to sell Akpom in other to fund a summer rebuild for Michael Carrick.
“The club’s prized asset Chuba Akpom is the most likely departure given he also has just 12 months left on his current deal.
“Crystal Palace are long-term admirers of Akpom, as TEAMtalk has already revealed.
“In terms of a transfer fee, Boro would be looking to get close to £20m for Akpom,” TEAMtalk reveals.
In a related development, Middlesbrough coach, Michael Carrick is hoping that the former Arsenal forward will commit his future to the club.
Asked about Akpom’s contract situation, Carrick said, “Sitting here, no there is nothing to update on right now. Listen, Chuba is obviously doing great for us and it’s something we are looking at between now and the end of the season. Not just Chuba but contracts for players moving ahead into the summer and next season. Individually though, there is no update to give you on Chuba.”
Akpom was named Sky Bet Championship Player of the season following his impressive performances for Middlesbrough.
