Brighton have rejected Chelsea’s latest bid of £80 million for star midfielder, Moises Caicedo According to highly-rated transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Sportivationng.com reports.
The Blues are seeking to bolster their midfield after losing Jorginho in January and Mateo Kovacic, Mason Mount and kai Havertz this window and they are targeting Brighton’s 21-year old defensive midfielder Caicedo
According to Nathan Gissing, Chelsea offered an initial fee of £70million for the Ecuadorian star which was rejected by Brighton last week.
Brighton want around £100m for Caicedo, who is keen on a move to Chelsea and has already agreed personal terms.
Roberto De Zerbi said he is hopeful that the 21-year-old will be in his team at the start of next season but admitted that the club were preparing for life without him.
‘We need to wait and see what happens with Caicedo,’ he said in a press conference. ‘Then we know what we need to do. I’ve not spoken with him yet, but of course I’d like him to stay,’ De Zerbi said before his sides’ pre-season loss to Chelsea.
The transfer saga has been on all summer and Chelsea are understood to be frustrated by Brighton’s hard to get stance.
