Victor Osimhen has won the Striker of the Year award in Serie A following a terrific 2022-23 season with Napoli, Sportivationng.com reports.
Osimhen has been on a goalscoring spree for Napoli with fantastic performances, which saw him play an incredible role as the club clinch the Scudetto for the first time in 33 years.
The Super Eagles star has scored 25 goals and provided four assists so far in league, a feat that has seen him broke the record as Africa’s highest scorer in Italy, ever.
He clinched the award after edging the duo of AC Milan’s Rafael Leao and Lautaro Martinez of Inter Milan to it.
Osimhen’s consistent performances this season has endeared him to top clubs in Europe, as the likes of Bayern Munich, Manchester United and Chelsea scramble for his signature.
Osimhen will be in action for Napoli against Sampdoria in their last game of the season on Sunday.
The 24-year-old is on the verge of becoming the first African player to win the Italian Serie A top scorer award.
He has scored 25 goals, four clear of Inter Milan’s Lautaro Martinez with just a game to go.
