Victor Osimhen has been named the Best African International Player at the prestigious Ghana Football Awards, Sportivationng.com reports.
The Napoli forward beat the likes of Mohammed Salah, Riyad Mahrez and Moroccan goalkeeper Yassine Bounou to the award.
He is winning the award for the first time and also the first Nigerian to claim the prize.
The Super Eagles striker enjoyed a successful season in the Serie A leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.
He also became the first African to win the league’s top scorer award with 26 goals.
Osimhen was also named the best striker in the 2022-23 Serie A season following his impressive performances for Napoli.
He has been linked with a move away from the club, with the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Manchester United and PSG interested in his services ahead of the 2023-24 season.
He is currently the top scorer in the Nations Cup qualifiers with seven goals.
