Super Eagles star, Victor Boniface has been named Bundesliga rookie of the month for August, Sportivationng.com reports.
Boniface saw off competition from Xavi Simons of RB Leipzig and Noah Atubolu of Freiburg.
Bayer Leverkusen confirmed on their X handle that the in-form striker has been voted as the winner of the award on Friday.
Boniface has enjoyed an impressive start to life for Bayer Leverkusen in the Bundesliga since joining in the summer from St. Union-Gilloise.
He has scored four goals and recorded one assist in three Bundesliga games for Bayer Leverkusen.
He bagged a brace against RB Leipzig, before repeating the same feat against Darmstadt.
The 22-year-old is also in the running for Bundesliga’s August player of the month award.
Boniface is presently in the Super Eagles camp in Uyo for the Africa Nations Cup qualifiers against Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday.
He is expected to make his Super Eagles debut against the Seleção dos Falcões e Papagaios.
