Super Falcons forward Asisat Oshoala has revealed her father was not happy with her shirtless celebration in Nigeria’s 3-2 victory against Australia, Sportivationng.com reports.
Oshoala came on as a second-half substitute in the 64th minute to score Nigeria’s third goal of the game, the goal proved to be the decisive goal on Thursday.
She capitalised on a defensive error by Mackenzie Arnold, the Matildas’ goalkeeper and defender Alanna Kennedy.
In the heat of the moment, she pulled off her jersey creating an image that has generated mixed reactions amongst football fans.
The 28-year-old forward, who is a Muslim, took to her Instagram page to reveal her dad was not happy with her celebration.
She wrote “My dad is definitely not happy with my choice of celebration but then again, Life is a collection of MOMENTS. #Alhamdulillah #Grateful #Moments”.
The victory over Australia sent the Nigerians to the top of group B with 4 points same as Canada but the Super Falcon’s lead marginally based on the number of goals scored by a team.
Nigeria will play the Republic of Ireland in the final group game on Monday.
