No fewer than 200 athletes are expected to battle it out in the inaugural Apapa Games which holds from April 28 to May 2.
The games will take place in three centres, Apapa Vlub, Apapa Local Government, and Ijora Oloye with athletes ready to compete in boxing, tennis, table tennis, football, karate, chess, dart and tug of war.
The programme is part of the initiative of the Apapa Local Government under the leadership of Hon Mrs Idowu Adejumoke Senbanjo, the Executive Chairman of Apapa Local Government.
The Special Adviser on Education, Youth and sports Dr. Mike Egbaiyelo, said the games is would serve as tool for empowering youths in the Port City Council while also emphasising that sports play a prominent role in the unity of the country.
Egbaiyelo, emphasised the importance of sports in promoting unity in the country and therefore urged participants to take full advantage of the Games to unleash their talents to the sporting world stressing it could be the launching pad for their careers in sports.
The grand finale will hold on May 2 at the Apapa Club with top performers getting prize rewards.
