He also gave good account of himself at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.
According to Daily Mail, Madrid’s Director General Jose Angel Sanchez and chief scout Juni Calafat identified Bellingham as the club’s top target at the start of the season and his performances at the World Cup only stiffened their resolve to sign him.

Club officials also had conversations with the player’s father Mark, who passed his FIFA agents exam last week, in a bid to boost their bid, while former Real Madrid boss Zinedine Zidane, also one of Bellingham’s idols growing up, also invited him and his family to his box at the last Champions League final as part of the process.
The Spanish club’s entire summer planning has been on hold while a deal for Bellingham has been worked out.
Marca is also reporting that Bellingham is expected to join Real Madrid on a 6-year contract until June 2029.
