Former Super Eagles midfielder, Ogenyi Onazi has backed Victor Osimhen to win the Italian Serie A MVP award at the end of the season, Sportivationng.com reports.
Osimhen has enjoyed a prolific season in the Serie A, leading the scorers chart with 21 goals.
He is also leading the quest to win Napoli’s first Serie A title since 1990 during the days of Diego Maradona.
Onazi revealed that Osimhen deserves to win the MVP award following his exploits in the league this season.
“He deserves MVP for what he’s done in Serie A and also for what he’s done this season in the Champions League. I have no doubts,” Onazi told Tuttomercatoweb.
“Osimhen continues to grow and will do even better. In Nigeria we have had strikers who have written football history but Osimhen is still a starter and, I think for him only the sky will be the limit.”
Osimhen is on course to become the first African player to win the Serie A top scorer award with 21 goals.
The 24-year-old is expected to feature in Napoli’s clash with Salernitana on Sunday.
Onazi is currently plying his trade with Serie D side, Casertana.
