Nigeria U-23 team popularly known as Olympic Eagles failed to qualify for the U-23 Nations Cup in Morocco after losing 2-0 to Guinea, Sportivationng.com reports.
Guinea have booked their place in the competition after playing out a 0-0 draw in Abuja in the first leg.
The defeat also denied the Olympic Eagles the opportunity to participate in the 2024 Olympics in Paris.
It is the second consecutive edition that the team has missed out on, having failed to qualify for the 2020 edition in Tokyo because they couldn’t make it out of their group at the U-23 Nations Cup in 2019 under Imama Amapakabo.
Algassime Bah opened the scoring for Guinea just after the hour mark before Alseny Soumah doubled the lead with 15 minutes to go.
The U-23 Nations Cup will take place in Morocco from June 24 to July 8.
The top three teams will qualify for the 2024 Olympics football tournament in Paris, while the fourth placed team will play Asian Football Confederation playoff to decide the last slot.
