Chelsea’s embarrassing season continued to go from bad to worse following a dismal 2-0 defeat against Aston Villa on Saturday evening, Sportivationng.com reports.
The Blues, who have endured a stuttering season in the Premier League under Graham Potter fell short once again at Stamford Bridge.
Potter deployed Reece James in the right center back position to allow Ruben Loftus Cheek to play as a right wing back due to the absence of Wesley Fofana.
Olie Watkins took advantage of miscommunication between Marc Cucurella and Khalidou Koulibaly to lob Kepa Arrizabalaga for the first goal in the 18th minute.
The Blues dominated possession but struggled to find the back of the net with Mykhailo Mudryk guilty of missing a good chance.
Ben Chilwell thought he had equalised only for his goal to be chalked off for a foul.
The visitors ended the first half in front with Chelsea toiling without nothing to show.
Potter’s men continued their dominance in the second half but still failed to find the equaliser.
Cool as you like from Olly Watkins as he capitalizes on Cucurella’s error 👌

Aston Villa delivered another sucker punch with the second goal courtesy of John McGinn with a stunning effort from outside the box to make it 2-0 in the 56th minute.
Potter responded by bringing on Ngolo Kante and Noni Madueke for Mykhailo Mudryk and Ruben Loftus Cheek.
Joao Felix, Ben Chilwell and Kai Havertz all had chances to score but they failed to find the net.
Chelsea have now drop to 11th on the log, while Aston Villa move up to ninth.
The Blues will return to Premier League action against Liverpool at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday.
