Daniel Itodo has been named as the coach of the season in the Abuja Elite League after leading Sporting Supreme to the title in the 2026 edition, Sportivationng.com reports.
Coach Itodo led the team to win the trophy without losing a match, winning 13, drawing 5 out of 18 matches.
Sporting Supreme finished seven points clear of second-placed Derby Football Academy to emerge as Champions of the league.
The team also scored 48 goals and conceded 13 matches in 18 matches.
Itodo expressed delight at winning the prestigious award in an interview with Sportivation Media.
He said: “I am deeply honored and humbled to be named Coach of the Year at the Abuja Elite League. This recognition means a great deal to me, but more importantly, it reflects the collective effort, discipline, and commitment of an incredible group of players, staff, and supporters who made this achievement possible.
“Leading Sporting Supreme to an unbeaten league title is something we all take immense pride in.
“It was not an easy journey. It required consistency, sacrifice, and a shared belief in our vision from the very beginning of the season. Every training session, every match, and every challenge we faced helped shape the character of this team.”
Coach Itodo left Sporting Supreme after leading the team to the Dana Cup, Gothia Cup and the Abuja Elite League title to team up with Grassrunners FC.
He is an highly-rated coach, who has contributed immensely to grassroots football in Nigeria.
He has successfully nurtured over 30 players who are now playing professionally across Europe.
