Newcastle United manager, Eddie Howe has showered encomiums on his players following their stunning 6-1 win over Tottenham on Sunday, Sportivationng.com reports.
The Magpies produced a sensational performance to put the visitors to the sword.
The first half ended 5-0 with the likes of Alexander Isak scoring a brace, Jacob Murphy also added his own brace with Joelinton scoring one.
Harry Kane scored a consolation goal for Tottenham before Calum Wilson put the icing on the cake in the 67th minute.
Howe praised his players for reacting well after their 3-0 loss to Aston Villa last weekend.
“That’s the reaction we wanted and an incredible start,” he said. “The crowd were incredible for us.
“Not really [expecting that]. You don’t expect that. The quality of our finishing was incredible. They weren’t stick-on goals. We were lethal in front of goal.
“Everything about our first half an hour was where we want to be.
“Since I walked through the door here the players have responded so well. I can’t thank them enough.
“Joe Willock has got a little bit of everything. He’s knuckled down, taken everything on board and delivered.
“In my shoes you don’t enjoy it until afterwards. I enjoyed elements of today but there’s a lot of pressure on the game. I’m pleased now.”
After the win, Willock said St James’ Park is “the best stadium in the world”.
Newcastle occupy the third position with 59 points from 31 games having played a game more than Manchester United on the same number of points.
Up next for Newcastle is a trip to Everton on Thursday, while Tottenham will welcome Manchester United at home same day.
