Barcelona manager, Xavi Hernandez has hailed his players for beating Atletico Madrid 1-0 in the La Liga on Sunday, Sportivationng.com reports.
The Blaugrana earned a hard-fought win over in-form Atletico Madrid to close in on the Laliga title.
Ferran Torres scored the only goal of the encounter to hand Xavi’s men the maximum points.
Xavi said, “We dominated, we had the second goal there for peace of mind but we did not take advantage of clear chances, which is why we suffered so much. It was a good game overall and I think we deserved to win by more than one goal.
“It doesn’t bother me to win 1-0, not scoring more is part of the players’ success and effectiveness.”
On Atletico, he said: “They haven’t lost since January, against us at the Metropolitano, and the victory is crucial.
“There is always criticism, it’s normal after a 1-0, this is Barça.
“We wanted to win in front of the fans, who have supported us. We played against Atlético, which is always complicated.”
Barcelona will be back in La Liga action against Rayo Vallecano on Wednesday, while Atletico Madrid take on Real Mallorca.
