Remo Stars suffered a 3-2 loss via penalty shootout to Medeama to crash out of the 2023-24 CAF Champions League, Sportivationng.com reports.
The Sky Blue Stars won in the regulation time 1-0, but they could not emerge victorious in the penalty shootout at the the Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
Remo Stars took the lead in the 72nd minute after Medeama goalkeeper fumbled a corner kick into the net.
Samuel Anakwe’s goal for the hosts in the stoppage time was ruled out for offside.
The Ghanaian team also won the first leg 1-0 at home last week.
Daniel Ogunmodede-led team lost scored two and three of their five spot kicks, while Medeama scored three and lost two of their own to advance to the second round of the 2023-24 CAF Champions League.
It was a bad day at the office for Nigerian clubs on the continent as NPL Champions, Enyimba also crashed out of the CAF Champions League following a 0-0 draw with Ahly Benghazi in Aba on Sunday evening.
