Nigeria Football Federation President, Ibrahim Gusau has tipped the Super Eagles to win the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, and also to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Gusau admitted that the team have not enjoyed the best of start in the World Cup qualifiers, earning just three points from four matches following a poor start.
He is confident that the team can bounce back from the poor start to book a place in the competition, while also promising the team 100 per cent support in their quest to achieve its objectives.
He said: “I have full confident that we are going to qualify for the 2026 World Cup. I know we had a very bad start having got three points from four games but if you look at the momentum now in the Super Eagles you will notice some level of progress.
“Going forward I know that everybody among the players know what it is at stake. We are surely going to do our best to support the team.
“We have just started the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and by the grace of God we shall qualify and it will be our breakthrough to winning the fourth title for the nation.”
The Super Eagles failed to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar after missing out on the ticket to Ghana via away goal rule following a goalless draw in Accra and a 1-1draw in Abuja.
