Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) Director of Sports Worldwide, Godwin Enakhena has showered encomiums on the General Overseer of the Church, Dr. Daniel Olukoya for his support after the church’s Women’s Basketball team won the NBBF league for the consecutive season.
MFM defeated Nigeria Customs 64-53 to win the Zenith Bank/NBBF Women’s Basketball League on Tuesday.
Enakhena, who is an established Sport Journalist, and an astute Sports Administrator has been in charge of the team since inception.
He revealed that sports is one of Dr. Olukoya’s 70-point youth repositioning agenda aimed at taking the youth off the streets, while appreciating him for his sterling support.
Enakhena said: “When I birthed this dream about six years ago, it was to key into the vision of MFM General Overseer’s 70-point youth repositioning agenda.
“Dr. Olukoya spends millions of naira on 70 different projects for the youths and sports happens to be one.
“From free tuition to free accommodation and other empowerment programmes etc.
“As my name implies, (Godwin), I like to win always because I give anything I do my all, and I mean my very best and I leave the rest to God.
“I thank Dr Olukoya and his wife for this, the players who are the most important persons, the coaches and other backroom staff, my colleagues in the media for your support. I won’t forget all my well-wishers. Power to the Girl-Child. God bless you all.”
MFM produced a dominant performance against Nigeria Customs to further establish their status as the team to beat in the league.
The Olukoya Ladies earned a 12-2 victory in the first quarter before another 25-22, Customs recovered from their poor start to grab a 25-15 win in the third quarter.
First Bank defeated Royal Aces 46-45 to win the third place match.
MFM received the sum of N1.75 million, while Nigeria Customs, and First Bank went home with N750,000 and N500,000, respectively
MFM star, Hembam Wandoo was named the Most Valuable Player of the season.
