Shooting Stars coach, Gbenga Ogunbote is confident that the team will perform better in the Nigeria Premier League next season, Sportivationng.com reports.

The Oluyole Warriors endured a topsy-turvy outing in the just-concluded 2022-23 season, finishing 6th in the Group A of the abridged version missing out of the NPL Super Six.

Ogunbote admitted at a Press Conference on Monday that the team did not live up to expectations, but he has assured the fans that next season will be different.

“I want to assure our fans and the people of Oyo State we will represent them well next season and bring joy to their faces,”

“I want to appeal to all of us to understand and look at the circumstances surrounding our games. Sorry for the results we got last season.

“We enjoin you [fans] to continue to give us support. Constructive criticism is allowed and helpful, nobody knows it all. We are just here to discharge our responsibilities which of course, by His grace, we are going to do.

Ogunbote also confirmed that the team has retained 18 players out of the players that represented the club last season, while five players have been promoted from Team B.

“In my coaching career, this is the second time that I will have a full section of the club without continental ticket, but sometimes it happens like that.

“We are hoping that we will have the financial strength to do that, so that we can manage some of those players that we retained,”

Football enthusiasts in Ibadan will be hoping for a better outing from their darling “Sooting” next season.
