The Red Devils have now lost two consecutive away matches in the Premier League against Brighton and West Ham.
The Spanish goalkeeper is in talks to extend his deal at Old Trafford and Ten Hag is confident that the error will not affect his future.
“Mistakes are part of football but as a team you have to deal with it and bounce back. Over the season, he [De Gea] is the one with the most clean sheets. Everyone has to take responsibility.”
“We want him to stay and we want him to extend his contract.”
He also cited the relentless schedule which has seen the team play 57 matches this season.
“Of course, disappointment with the result, same as Thursday. We lost for ourselves and now we have one week, the first time since Christmas, we need energy because both second halves were below standards.”
“Of course, disappointed [not to score]. We created and we had the game in our hands. In front of the goal, we had to be more clinical. I counted four or five really good chances and it was not by coincidence. They were well played.
“We have to keep going and we have to show character. It is only four games and you need the energy. It is in your head, make sure it is not in your legs. Get ready for the games, clear head, energy, focus, and go.
Up next for Manchester United is a clash against Wolves on Saturday at Old Trafford.
