The Osun Intercollegiate Games 2024 continued to showcase youthful talent and competitive spirit on its second day, Thursday, November 21, at the Federal Polytechnic, Ede Sports Complex.

With four exciting football games on display, the air was electrified by the cheers of fans and the determination of athletes vying for glory.

The day’s action kicked off with the women’s football match between Federal Polytechnic, Ede, and UNIOSUN. A solitary yet decisive goal by Adebisi McCarthy in the 25th minute became the defining moment of the game.

Demonstrating skill and composure, McCarthy broke through UNIOSUN’s defensive line to score, earning the host institution a crucial victory. Despite relentless attempts from UNIOSUN to equalize, Federal Polytechnic’s defense stood impenetrable, delighting their home crowd.

The men’s category followed with equally compelling matches. In the first encounter, Federal Polytechnic, Ede, clashed with OSPOLY, Iree. Saheed Kehinde etched his name into the spotlight with a brilliant goal in the 26th minute, leading his team to a narrow but hard-fought 1-0 victory.

The momentum carried into the second men’s game, where Fountain University stunned the Federal University of Health Sciences with a dominant 3-1 win. Fountain’s attacking trio dazzled the crowd with their precision and creativity, leaving their opponents scrambling to keep up.

Uniosun and Adeleke University wrapped up the football action with a tactical yet goalless draw. Despite no goals, the match featured thrilling end-to-end play, highlighting the technical prowess of both sides.

As the games move to the prestigious OAU Sports Complex in Ile-Ife on Friday, November 22, the excitement is set to soar. The fixtures promise riveting action across various disciplines:
