Trevoh Chalobah produced an impressive performance on his Chelsea return in a 3-1 win over Wolves at Stamford Bridge on Monday night, Sportivationng.com reports.
The Blues ended their five-match winless run with a dominant display which helped them regain their fourth place spot, overtaking Man City.
Maresca handed Chalobah his first start after returning from a short spell at Crystal Palace due to injury Levi Colwill’s injury.
Tosin Adarabioyo gave the hosts the lead in the 24th minute before Doherty restored parity for Wolves on the stroke of halftime after Sanchez fumbled a corner kick.
Marc Cucurella restored Chelsea’s lead in the 60th minute.
Noni Madueke scored the third goal to make it 3-1 for Chelsea.
The returning Chalobah will feel hard done by not getting on the score sheet after his goal bound effort was ushered into the net by Madueke.
The Cobham graduate impressed in the encounter, winning the man of the match award, which earned him the praises of Chelsea fans on X.
CFC Sheikh wrote on X: “Frozen out all pre season, club tried their best to sell him, then recall him in January from a productive loan spell and throw him straight in the starting lineup and he drops a Man of the Match performance. Never doubt the character and mentality of Trevoh Chalobah.”
Conn CFC wrote: “Chalobah was frozen out the Chelsea team, loaned out and recalled. Gets the man of the match in his first game back.”
Dean CFC wrote on X: “Chalobah has been exceptional today. It’s baffling how the owners and directors could consider letting him go while investing heavily in Disasi and Badiashile. In less than a full match, he’s proven exactly why he deserves to stay at Chelsea.”
Up next for Chelsea is a trip to the Etihad on Saturday to face the resurgent Manchester City.
