The organisers of the Redemption City Football Tournament have assured football enthusiasts that the 2027 edition of the competition will be bigger, better organised, and more competitive than the editions, Sportivationng.com reports.
It would be recalled that Milly Football Club defeated Magboro FC 2-0 in the final while Best Talent FC defeated Future Bright FA 3-1 in the third place match.
Speaking on behalf of the Local Organising Committee, committee member Oladeji Ayodele said the success recorded in recent editions has inspired the organisers to raise the standard of the tournament, with plans to attract more participating teams, improved facilities, enhanced officiating, and a richer experience for players and supporters.
“We are grateful for the support we have received over the years from the football community, sponsors, volunteers, and fans.
“The 2026 edition was interesting, the level of participation was very encouraging, virtually all the grassroot teams wanted to be part of the tourney. A bigger and better Tourney. In terms of planning, Execution and organization.” Ayodele said.
“The 2027 edition will not just be another tournament; it will be a celebration of grassroots football. We are already working behind the scenes to ensure it becomes our biggest and most memorable competition yet.”
According to him, the organising committee is committed to creating a platform that not only entertains football lovers but also provides young talents with an opportunity to showcase their abilities before scouts, coaches, and club representatives.
“We believe grassroots football remains the foundation of the game. Many gifted players simply need the right stage to express themselves. That is one of the reasons we are investing more effort into the 2027 tournament,” he added.
The committee also disclosed that discussions are ongoing with potential partners and sponsors to improve prize packages, logistics, medical support, and media coverage throughout the competition.
Ayodele further appealed to participating teams to begin preparations early while urging corporate organisations and football stakeholders to partner with the tournament in developing young footballers.
“We want to build a competition that inspires communities, promotes healthy rivalry, and creates opportunities for talented players to pursue their football dreams. Everyone involved should expect a higher standard in 2027.”
The Redemption City Football Tournament has steadily grown into one of the community’s most anticipated sporting events, bringing together local clubs, passionate supporters, and emerging football talents in an atmosphere of healthy competition and unity.
With organisers already promising significant improvements, expectations are high that the 2027 edition will further strengthen the tournament’s reputation as a valuable platform for grassroots football development and community engagement.
