Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen has been named the eighth best player in the 2022-23 European season in the MARCA top 100 awards, Sportivationng.com reports.
This is the second edition of the Marca that ranks the 100 best players of the season.
It is voted for by 115 journalists, former players, former coaches and influencers, more than 10 000 people also voted on Marca.com.
Osimhen played a pivotal role in leading Napoli to their first Serie A title in 33 years.
He became the first African to win the 2022-23 Serie A top scorer award with 26 goals.
The Napoli forward is the only African in the top 10 of the list.
He finished above the likes of Karim Benzema, Harry Kane, Robert Lewandowski, Bernardo Silva, Bukayo Saka and Jude Bellingham.
Other African players on the list include Yassine Bounou (32nd/ Morocco), Mohamed Salah (37th/ Egypt), Andre Onana (43rd/ Cameroon), Sofyan Amrabat (47th/ Morocco) and Youssef En-Nesyri (49th/ Morocco).
Haaland was named the best player of the 2022-23 European season, with 5,631 points, 679 points more than second-placed Lionel Messi and 699 points more than third-placed Vinicius.
Haaland won three trophies in his first season with Manchester City, scoring 52 goals in 53 official games this season.
