With just one week to go, anticipation has reached fever pitch as Bayelsa State prepares to host the inaugural Yenagoa City International 10KM Race, scheduled for April 4, 2026.

The State is already agog with excitement as major stakeholders, elite athletes, sports enthusiasts, and visitors from across Nigeria and beyond gear up to storm Yenagoa for what promises to be a landmark event. Preparations have intensified to a new level, reflecting a strong commitment to delivering a seamless and world-class road race experience.

The race, themed “The Reveal (Bayelsa Wua!)”, is strategically designed to position Bayelsa State as a premier destination for international road running, while also showcasing and rewarding the immense athletic talent within the region.

In line with global best practices, the 10KM race will feature a competitive prize purse aimed at attracting top-tier elite runners. The course, which begins at the iconic Opolo Roundabout, has been carefully mapped to meet international standards, ensuring both competitiveness and safety for all participants.

Nilayo Sports Management Ltd. have reaffirmed their readiness, emphasizing that the event will not only celebrate athletic excellence but also highlight Bayelsa’s rich culture, hospitality, and growing reputation as a hub for sports tourism in the Niger Delta.

As the countdown enters its final stretch, all eyes are now on Yenagoa, where history is set to be made in what is expected to become one of Africa’s premier road racing events.
