Super Eagles duo of Terem Moffi and Moses Simon have been nominated for the Marc-Vivien Foe award for the best African player in the French Ligue 1.

Terem Moffi recently scored his 50th Ligue goal while in action for Nice in the 2-1 defeat to Nantes on Sunday.

Moffi has been impressive for Nice in the Ligue 1 this season, leading their quest for European football with ten goals and two assists.

Moses Simon has also enjoyed an outstanding campaign with Nantes, scoring three goals, and recording six assists in 22 appearances, he however, sustained a season-ending injury while in action for the Super Eagles against Mali in the last international window.

The award is organised by Radio France International and France 24 and it is named after Cameroonian legend and former Lens and Lyon midfielder, Marc-Vivien Foe, who died in 2003 while playing for Cameroon against Colombia.

Only two Nigerians have won the award since its Inception in 2009, Vincent Enyeama scooped it in the (2013/14) season, while Victor Osimhen went home with the award in the (2019/20) season.

There are nine other nominees for the award, including Pierre America Aubameyang, Nabil Bentaleb, Amine Gouiri, Achraf Hakimi, Lamine Camara, Chancel Mbemba, Oumar Diakite, Youssouf Ndayishimiye, and Wilfried Singo.

Another Super Eagles star, Victor Osimhen, is the youngest player to win the award at the age of 21, when he scored 13 goals and recorded four assists for Lille in the Ligue 1 in 2020.

DR Congo’s Chancel Mbemba won the award in the 2022-23 season after his impressive performances for Marseille last season.
