2023 Women’s World Cup hit one million tickets milestone sale

The 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup is coming with a difference as more than one million tickets have been sold for the tournament holding in Australia and New Zealand, Sportivationng.com reports.

The showpiece is gathering momentum and its on track to become the most attended women’s sporting event in history with over a month away from the kickoff.

Taking to his Instagram page to issue a statement, FIFA’s president Gianni Infantino revealed that 1,032,884 tickets have been purchased for the ninth edition of the Women’s World Cup, making it one of the most hotly anticipated football tourneys in history.

Featuring an expanded event of 32 teams, first of its kind, the Australia/New Zealand mundial has already surpassed the total pre-tournament sales for the 2019 finals in France.

“Delighted to share with the world that FIFA has passed one million tickets sold for this year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup, to be co-hosted by Australia & New Zealand.

“As I write this, 1,032,884 tickets have been sold.

“This means that with over one month to go before kick-off, we have surpassed the numbers sold for France 2019, thus meaning that Australia & New Zealand 2023 is on track to become the most attended FIFA Women’s World Cup in history.”

The opening match between New Zealand and Norway will serve off at Auckland’s Eden Park on July 20 and thereafter, Australia will take on Ireland at Stadium Australia.
