U20 World Cup: Flying Eagles Fail To Fly Against Brazil

 

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria suffered a 2-0 loss to Brazil in their last Group D match at the 2023 FIFA U20 World Cup, Sportivationng.com reports.

Jean and Arsenal forward, Marquinhos scored two late first half goals for the Young Selecao.

Lasan Bosso-led team won their first two matches of the competition against Dominican Republic and Italy.

Jude Sunday almost gave the Flying Eagles the lead in the eighth minute but his effort hit the cross bar.

Jean opened the scoring with a well-placed header two minutes before halftime.

Arsenal forward Marquinhos added the second in the first half stoppage time, finishing a swift counter attacking move.

Brazil have now won five of their six meetings with Nigeria at the U20 World Cup, with the other encounter ending in a draw.

In the other Group D game, Italy defeated Dominican Republic 3-0.

Brazil topped the group, Italy finished second, while the Flying Eagles took the third position.

Ladan Bosso boys qualified for the second round of the competition as one of the best losers.

The Flying Eagles will now face either either USA on Tuesday or Argentina in the second round on Wednesday.
