Tuchel Earns First Win As Bayern Coach Against Dortmund

Thomas Tuchel led Bayern Munich to a 4-2 win over Borussia Dortmund in his first match since taking over at the Allianz Arena, Sportivationng.com reports.

Dortmund goalkeeper Gregor Kobel was left red-faced when he allowed Dayot Upamecano pass to beat him for the first goal.

Thomas Muller scored a quick-fire brace to make it 3-0 in the first 23 minutes.

Six minutes after the restart, Kingsley Coman added the fourth to put Dortmund to the sword.

Emre Can reduced the deficit from the spot in the 72nd minute from the spot before Donyell Malen added the second goal late in the game to make it 4-2.

Bayern Munich are now two points clear of Borussia Dortmund in the Bundesliga title race.

Tuchel hailed his new team's performance against Dortmund.

“Today was a good first step. The game was a bit too wild, we wanted to have more dominance and control. We started very nervously. The whole game was actually too sloppy with too many ball losses. The willingness to work off the ball was extremely high”

Thomas Tuchel

“I was very nervous for my first game. The first 10 minutes weren’t good as well as the first few minutes of the 2nd half. We lost many balls.

The willingness to work against the ball was great. We missed a lot of chances and got goals gifted. We have to improve.”

“There's still room for improvement. Why did I accept this job? The desire and excitement of the task prevailed over everything”.

“To be able to play all titles, to be close to my family, this team – that mix was what made me come here”.

Bayern Munich will be back in action on Tuesday against Freiburg in the quarter-final of the DFB Pokal.
