Sporting Lagos have been promoted to the Nigeria Premier Football League following a 2-0 win over Abeokuta Stormers in a NNL Super 8 play-offs clash, Sportivationng.com reports.

The Lagos-based side won their first match of the playoffs courtesy of a late goal by Emmanuel Odarfi to earn a 1-0 win over FC One Rocket.

Rivio Ayemwenre and Saturday Okon scored the goals to earn Sporting Lagos an historic promotion to the top-tier league in Nigeria.

Rivio Ayemwenre opened the scoring just after the restart after the first half ended goalless.

Sporting Lagos goalkeeper, Christian Nwoke was in an inspired form with series of stunning saves including a late penalty to deny Abeokuta Stormers a chance to equalise.

Saturday Okon finished off a stunning counter-attacking move with a cool finish to put the icing on the cake for Paul Offor-led team.

The club was formed in 2022 and they battled to escape relegation on the last day in their first NNL season.
